An attack and counter-attack in the wee hours of  Sunday over Biafra , between a dozen Nigerian students, created a ruckus in Hennur, as they allegedly attacked the residence of one Elvis Ohachosim, a 39-year-old fellow Nigerian, and set his car ablaze. Times of India reports that DCP North East, Girish, said the counter-attack was in retaliation to Elvis attacking two Nigerian friends  on Saturday  evening; an attack that has left Bengaluru Police now mulling over getting these Nigerians who came to India on business and student visas deported. Father to popular Nigerian rapper, Falz and Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has said he hopes Nnamdi Kanu will still show up so as not to jeopardize the liberty of the sureties who signed his bail papers. According to him, Kanu may have left the country for the United Kingdom where he is also a citizen since his survival in Nigeria is risky. The United States Government has said it does not consider the Indigenous People of Biafra a terrorist organisation. Last week, the Federal High Court in Abuja gave a judicial backing the executive order of President Muhammadu Buhari, outlawing the group and its activities in the country. The court granted the order to proscribe the group on Wednesday. It declared that the activities of the group constituted acts of terrorism. The Federal Government also accused France and the United Kingdom of aiding IPOB activities. The spokesman for the American Embassy in Nigeria, Russell Brooks, told SUNDAY PUNCH on Friday that the US government does not view IPOB as a terrorist group. He said this in response to our correspondent’s email which asked if the United States sees IPOB as a terrorist organisation. The Nigerian Army yesterday said it has successfully curtailed the activities of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra in the South East while clashes between farmers and herdsmen within the region had been prevented by troops in the past two weeks. Providing an update on Exercise Egwu Eke II (Python Dance II) the army further said the activities of kidnappers and other criminals had been checkmated in the region while scores of people had been arrested and handed over to the police for prosecution. The army was however silent on the whereabouts of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB who was alleged to be on the run after a siege laid on his compound in Aba, Abia State. A statement signed by Col. The Federal Government will be giving the French Government account details of the sponsors of the terrorist group, Indigenous People of Biafra , Saturday PUNCH has learnt. The Nigerian Government had through the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said that France was the headquarters of IPOB’s funding. But the European country on Thursday said it had no knowledge of IPOB’s presence in France. But a very senior government official said the Federal Government had reached out to France, explaining that it did not accuse the country of being the sponsors of Biafra but that a large transfer of funds was made regularly from France to IPOB in Nigeria. It was learnt that the Federal Government had asked the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit and the Central Bank of Nigeria to compile the needed information on the sponsors and it hand it over to the French government. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) , Nnamdi Kanu, has alleged that his client might have been shot dead by fire of bullets or maybe abducted by military operatives on September 14. Ejiofor made this allegation clear in a statement on Tuesday issued in reaction to insinuations that Kanu has gone into hiding. Seven members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have been reportedly charged to court in Aba, Abia State for the alleged murder of a police officer and possession of dangerous weapons. The defendants, Chinonso Ude, 30; Maduabuchi Echereodo, 25; Ukochukwu Ikechukwu, 32; Okechukwu Daniel, 20; Ifeanyi Sunday, 33; Okezie Jeremiah, 26; Chizuruoke Nwazuo, 27, and others now at large, were on Monday arraigned on a 12-count charge bothering on murder, possession of dangerous weapons, arson, kidnapping, membership of IPOB and conspiracy. President Buhari who is away at a United Nations conference, sent a team of five Northern governors led by the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettimma, to broker peace in South-East region of Nigeria following the recent clash between IPOB members and the Nigerian army in Abia state. According to Vanguard, others Governors in the team are Aminu Masari (Katsina), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi) and Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano). This is coming after the group activities were prescribed by South East Governors and declaration of the group as a terrorist group by the Nigerian army, a move the Senate President, Bukola Saraki described as illegal.

The Indigenous People of Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu has reportedly fled and gone into hiding along with top leaders of his group after the Nigerian Army declared last Friday that  IPOB and other Pro-Biafran groups were terrorist organizations. Investigations by SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday revealed that Kanu and his top lieutenants had ‘disappeared’ from his country home in Afaraukwu near Umuahia and other places he frequently visited. His father, Eze Israel Kanu, is the traditional ruler of the town. The new Abia state commissioner of police, Anthony Ogbizi, has warned the public that anybody found with the Biafra flag will be arrested and charged to court. Speaking while parading seven suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Ogbizi said the declaration of IPOB as a terrorist organization and the prescription of the group by the governors of the South East automatically makes it illegal for anyone to operate under IPOB or adorn Biafra flag or emblems. The Turkish Embassy in Nigeria, in a statement, has denied supporting the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) and has disowned the Turkish Diplomat, Abdülkadir Erkahrama who publicly supports Nnamdi Kanu and the calls for Biafra. According to them, they are committed to the territorial integrity and political unity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Furthermore, Turkey never supports secessionist activities against the Federal Republic of Nigeria. An IPOB member, Odum Eje Eje took to social media to declare his intention to die for Biafra actualization and stated that No Biafra, No peace . A member of Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, Chukwuma Austin Dike, has burnt his Nigerian passport, Voters card and declared he is no longer a Nigerian. He took to his Facebook page to share the video, stating some words before throwing his document into the locally made fire. As Dike throws the documents into fire, he can be heard saying; Buhari! today, I am no more a citizen! I put it on fire and it shall burn forever! give us a day for referendum and you’ll have peace in this country.
