According to reports from PremiumTimes, it has it that the lawyer representing billionaire kidnapper, Evans, has accused officers of the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team of extorting money and valuables running into hundreds of millions of naira from his client. Olukoya Ogungbeje petitioned the Police Service Commission on Friday. The petition captioned reads in part: “For the avoidance of doubt, it is our secured brief that in the course of investigating our client while being detained, the following under-listed items were forcefully and corruptly extorted from our client: 1. Billionaire Evan’s multi-millionaire Naira truck yard uncovered by Police, secretary arrested

A multi-million Naira truck yard belonging to billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwumadike a.k.a Evans has been uncovered by Policemen attached to the IGP Intelligence Response Team(IRT).  The Policemen also arrested one Ngozika Ezeokoye, Evans’ secretary who reportedly went into hiding after she learnt that police had nabbed her employer who used proceeds from kidnap operations, to establish several businesses including a haulage company that has not less than 10 trucks. Evans’ reportedly used his haulage company to access the financial worth of his victims, who hired his company. Aduba Victor Nonso, a 28-year-old ex-soldier from Onitsha North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has disclosed how he spent over N3million which billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike (popularly known as Evans) gave him for participating in several alleged crimes. According to the ex-soldier, who said he joined the Nigeria Army on August 15, 2009 and was posted to Abati Barracks, women and hotels bills drained the money and reduced him to poverty. In an interview with Vanguard, Aduba said: “My income was low and it wasn’t enough to fend for my family. One of my friends who is also from my home town known as Ikenna, led me into crime. Ongoing police investigation of suspected kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike , popular known as Evans , has revealed that he was also involved in crimes in South Africa, it was gathered yesterday. That is besides his alleged illegal procurement of a Ghanaian passport that bears his passport photograph but a Ghanaian name. Police spokesman, Mr. Moshood Jimoh, told The Nation that the investigation has also led to the arrest of more associates of Evans who were found to be probably wealthier and living bigger than him. Evans is spending his second month in police custody and is expected to be formally charged within the next one month, Jimoh said. The Nigerian police authority has just released a statement through the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, and pertaining status of the billionaire Kidnapper Evans . Mr Ibrahim disclosed to newsmen that the trial of Evans is set to commence soon as he will be charged to court shortly. According to police Chief, the delay in Evans’ prosecution is due to police investigations to track down his accomplices within and outside the country.
